English and Foreign Languages University locks scholar’s room
Hyderabad: The authorities at the English and Foreign Languages University locked the doors of the hostel room of PhD student Satish Nainala on Monday.
The Eflu had earlier rusticated Mr Nainala due to his involvement in a protest leading to damage of university property. He had then appealed against rustication in the HC and the case is still pending.
Mr Nainala said, “I was told by the university authorities to vacate my hostel room by 5 pm, but I protested saying that as per an interim order by the HC, I am allowed to use hostel and library facilities. But the university official said that I am misinterpreting the interim order. In the evening, I locked my room and went outside for some personal work. On my return, I was shocked to find a another lock on my door.”
Mr Nainala later went to the OU police station to lodge complaint against three university officials including OSD of hostels and the chief security officer.
