Visakhapatnam: In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife and younger son and severely injured his elder son by slitting their throats with a sharp knife and later he hanged himself over family disputes at Gorle Sitarampuram under Bobbili police station limits in Vizianagaram district late on Sunday night.
According to police, the deceased were G. Ganga, 38, G. Naveen, 12, G. Venkata Ramana, 46, and the injured was G. Naga Praveen. Police said that Venkata Ramana is a small farmer and also an electrician in the area and he was addicted to alcohol and gambling and ignored his responsibilities. The inebriated Ramana used to pick up a fight with his wife Ganga regularly over petty issues.
On Sunday night, Ramana has given sedative-laced fruit juice to his wife and two sons and around 1 am, Ramana slit their throats with a knife while they were sleeping at home and fled from the spot.
On hearing Naga Praveen for help, the neighbours rushed to spot and found that Ganga and Naveen were in a pool of blood with their throats slit while Naga Praveen was in serious conditions.
Naga Praveen was admitted to KG hospital in Vizag, where his condition is said to be in danger. Initially, the locasl suspected that Ramana absc-onded from the village after committing the offence. But, they found Ramana was hanging from a tree in the village.
Following the information, Bobbili police led by sub-inspector of police R.P.R Prasad rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies of Ramana, Ganga and Naveen to local hospital for post-mortem.
