A musician, an actor and a student: Abhishek Arya
At just 20, Abhishek Arya is busy juggling studies, his second music album and his Tollywood movies. Named the youngest music director in South India for the movie Keechuraalu, Abhishek has come a long way from being a child artiste.
“I starred in my first film, Anukokunda Oka Roju, when I was seven years old,” says Abhishek, adding, “Then, I took part in an inter-school competition. When I was announced as the winner, I couldn’t believe it.”
Since then Abhishek hasn’t looked back. He also took part in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs. It was while he was pursuing medicine in St. Petersburg University in Russia, that he came up with his first music album, My Dreams. “But soon I realised that I didn’t want to pursue medicine and quit. I went around India for concerts before I joined St. Mary’s,” says Abhishek, the final-year student of Biotechnology.
But there’s more to come. “I have signed a contract with Sony Music India for my second album, for which I’m collaborating with Shraddha Sharma, Neha Kakkar and Sreeram Chandra. A Tollywood film by debutant director Stalin from Vizag will be out in December. Another Telugu film of mine will be out next year,” he says.
