Xiaomi’s older flagship smartphone, the Mi 4, had posed as a playground for Microsoft a few weeks ago. Microsoft had earlier released a demonstration where Android users could install Windows 10 on their handsets. The Android handsets that could use the donor Windows ROM were limited and Xiaomi’s Mi 4 was one of the major ones. Microsoft demonstrated their operating system on the Mi 4 a while back and it seems that the beta test version is online for developers and testers to try their hands on.
The WMPoweruser team reported that Microsoft’s Windows 10 ROM for the Xiaomi Mi 4 was available online, albeit with a password protection. This shows that the ROM has been released for testers and developers only, since the installation procedure involves a password protected tool.
The Windows 10 ROM is a 700MB file and comes along with a special installation (flashing) tool/software for installation. The tool and download is only available to registered users who have the password to access the utility software. This shows that the ROM is in full beta testing swing and should be out shortly for the general user. This is quite an enthusiasm for the Android community to check out a completely new ROM for their handsets. We hope the ROM works well and will also be an option for future smartphones.
