Two persons die in bus-lorry collision
Dharmapuri: Two persons died and 16 others including five women were injured after a Karnataka state transport corporation bus collided with a lorry near Dharmapuri on Saturday night.
Police said the bus from Bengaluru was heading to Trichy when the mishap happened at around 2 am on the Bangalore-Salem national highway. Near Kundalpatti, a lorry suddenly entered the main road from a service lane, leading to the mishap.
Both the bus drivers R.Ramakrishnachari, 51 and C. Narasimma Reddy, 39 died on the spot, while 16 others including five women suffered injuries.
The injured persons were admitted at the government hospital in Dharmapuri. The Mathikonpalayam police registered a case and arrested the lorry driver Balamurugan, 37 from Sangagiri. Due to the mishap, traffic was disrupted for a while on the stretch in the early morning hours.
