Hyderabad: Telangana junior doctors are upset that their stipend has not been hiked despite a government order proposing a 15 per cent increase every two years. The hike was proposed in 2014.
Dr G. Srinivas, junior doctor at the Osmania General Hospital, said, “We get Rs 20,000 per month in the first year and Rs 23,000 in the final year. All other states pay Rs 45,000 to Rs 60,000 per month. We only want the proposed hike to implemented and we must be paid the arrears.”
Junior doctors from Osmania General Hospital and Gandhi Hospital discussed the issue on Sunday.
Another issue was that only 12 post-graduate seats had been allotted for Telangana in 2015-16. Dr M.
Imran stated, “The state government must intervene and work towards increase the number of seats.”
