Surrey cricketers ran into each other while going for a catch

Arundel: The Surrey players Rory Burns and Moises Henriques were involved in a sickening outfield collision during their T20 Blast match with Sussex at Arundel, leaving both players in need of urgent medical attention, reported telegraph.co.uk.

With the home side on 141-7, the two fielders ran into each other while attempting to take a catch off Steffan Piolet and appeared to clash heads before collapsing to the ground.

Surrey wrote on its Twitter account that both Henriques and Burns left in ambulances.

Medical staff and stretchers were immediately called for, and were swiftly joined on the outfield by three ambulances. Henriques, who appeared to be concussed when he tried to stand, left the field on a stretcher and gave a thumbs-up to the crowd.

Burns remained motionless for a longer period of time, before regaining consciousness and leaving the ground on the third ambulance. Both players were reported to have been placed on fluid drips, but Surrey tweeted that both were conscious and sitting up.

An announcement over loudspeakers later said that both players were conscious, and that the match was being abandoned.
