War of words between TRS and Opposition gains steam
Warangal: After Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari resigned as the Warangal MP on Thursday, political parties here are gearing up for the upcoming by-elections which are yet to be declared.
While the Opposition parties are busy slamming Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his one-year rule pointing out all the mistakes the government did, the TRS is answering back trying to make sure they don’t lose their image in public.
There is a daily war of words between the TRS and the Opposition parties for the past few days. This is obviously because of the upcoming by-elections for the MP seat. Each party is trying to gain the upper hand in its own way.
While the external scenario continues to be like this, the internal situation has turned interesting as every party is on the lookout for a suitable candidate to contest in the elections.
The TRS is confident that the people of Warangal will surely hand them a victory in this elections also. TRS leader Peddi Sudarshan Reddy is confident that the people will support anyone the party chooses as the candidate. He did not rule out the possibility of their candidate being someone who is going to jump ship from other party.
“We are sure the people will support us, whoever the party decides to send for elections. When asked if people will accept someone who will join the TRS before the elections, he said, “Whoever the person is, before being declared the candidate, he will join the party and will be a member of the TRS. So the people who have faith in the TRS will also support the candidate,” he said. With this, all eyes turn to former Congress MP Vivek.
Mr Vivek joined the TRS before the formation of Telangana and went back to Congress before the general elections in 2014.
There is a possibility of the ruling party roping him in. Word is abuzz that the TRS polit bureau member Errolla Srinivas is the frontrunner to claim the ticket for contesting the elections. Former MP Man-da Jagannadham and Kadiam Srihari’s daughter Kavya who is working as an assistant professor in KMC are also said to be under consideration.
Meanwhile, the Congress seems determined to win the seat at any cost. It is evident from the number of leaders who visited Warangal in recent days.
Further, party sources said that AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi will visit Warangal on June 29. Mr Gandhi’s presence here is supposed to help the party decide who should be given the ticket to contest in the byelections.
As former MP Vivek likely to join the pink party, Siricilla Rajaiah holds a clear chance of contesting the elections.
