JNTU Kakinada starts dual degree
Kakinada: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) has introduced Mechanical Engineering courses un-der International Integ-rated Master’s Degree Programme from the current academic year 2015-16 with a capacity of 20 seats. The fee structure is on par with ECE and CSE branches.
The students will be admitted in to this dual degree programme based on the marks in the entrance test to be conducted on June 28 at JNTU-K. The director of admissions, JNTU-K V. Ravindranath said that the students would pursue this dual degree course for three-and-a-half years at JNTU-K and one-and-a-half year MS course at BTH University in Sweden in Structural Mechanics specialisation. Option is open for this course also for students who have already applied for the IIMDP entrance examination. New applicants are directed to apply online before June 23, he said.
The JNTU-K vice-chancellor V.S.S. Kumar said that the JNTU-K has already signed MoUs with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Ban-gkok, Bleking Institute of Technology (BTH), Sw-eden, University of Hi-ghlands and Islands Perth (UGHIP), Scotland and US Flight Academy.
He said that the students can get the seats in this dual degree programmes. Collaborative courses offered by JNTUK enhance national and global exposure and placements and provides skill development programme boosting up the students’ entrepreneurship skill. He also said that Sweden government has sanctioned an amo-unt of '3 crores to promote these courses.
The quality of education which the candidates enjoy is the undeniable advantage of these courses and new initiative like training for entrepreneurship would be particularly helpful for students which enable and increase their employability potential. Already, the JNTUK is implementing the dual degree courses under IIMDP in the branches of Civil, CSE, CSE and ECE.
