Move court if aggrieved, says Ramesh Chennithala

The Vigilance has conducted the probe in an impartial manner

KOCHI: The investigation into the bar bribery case is progressing on the right direction, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala told reporters here on Saturday. If anyone is having any complaints about the mode of the investigation they could approach the court”, he said.

“I have not interfered with the investigation. The government too has not made any intervention”, Chennithala said. “I am not aware of the content of the probe report”, he added. The Vigilance has conducted the probe in an impartial manner, he said.

Mr. Chennithala made the comments in response to questions from media persons on the recommendation made by Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau ADGP that no charge sheet should be filed against Finance Minister K.M. Mani.

Vigilance AGDP in a report to the vigilance director has recommended that charge sheet should be against Mr. Mani as there was no evidence about him demanding or receiving bribes.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram that bar bribery allegation was nothing but political façade.

The government has ordered a probe following the allegation and the vigilance had conducted an honest investigation before finalizing a report, he added.
