Karnataka, Assam police raid house, nab 4 Bodo militants in Rajagopalnagar
BENGALURU: Four suspected Bodo militants were arrested in a joint operation conducted by the State’s Internal Security Division and the Assam Police in Rajagopalnagar police limits here on Saturday.
They were arrested from a house at Srigandha Kaval in Rajagopalnagar. The arrested have been identified as Tomar Basumatri, Sandan Basumatri, Naseen Basumatri, and Jibal Nursery, all in their early 20s. They are members of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and were said to be involved in the massacres of tribals in Assam in May and December of 2014. They were also booked for opening fire at policemen.
According to the police, the militants were working in a private plastic factory in Peenya Industrial Area and were said to be hiding in the city for the past one year. A special team of Assam Police arrived in the city on Thursday and informed the Karnataka Internal Security Division about the presence of the militants in Rajagopalnagar.
In a joint operation, Assam Police and personnel from State’s ISD and Rajagopalnagar police station raided the house at Srigandha Kaval early Saturday and arrested the militants. Meanwhile, tension prevailed in front of the Rajagopalnagar police station for a while in the morning when a large crowed gathered there to see the arrested militants.
