BENGALURU: An inspector, who was suffering from brain aneurysm, was transferred from a city police station to Kalaburagi. Though he had requested that he give posting in Bengaluru city as he needed treatment at any time, the police department has not considered it. It is alleged he was not transferred to the city as he had acted tough against the son of a prominent minister in the state, during his stint in the city.
When Deccan Chronicle contacted the inspector concerned after learning about his plight, he, on condition of anonymity, said, “I have been requesting the senior officers to give me any posting, police station or non-executive, in the city from last December, but my request is not considered.”
It is learnt that the inspector, who was posted in a station in the Central police division of the city, had acted tough against the son of a prominent minister, as he supported his friends in connection with a case where the friends had created ruckus in an upscale pub and also assaulted policemen. In this connection, the inspector had tried to bring in the name of all the accused, including the minister’s son, who had allegedly called up the police and exerted pressure on them to not act against his friends.
This, apparently, had not gone well the minister, who had asked the then city Police Commissioner to suspend the inspector. However, the Commissioner refused to do so and had defended the inspector in front the minister. But, a few months after the Commissioner was transferred, the inspector was also transferred to Kalaburagi in last December.
“I had undergone a major surgery at Vikram Hospital for brain aneurysm. I have been told by the doctor to visit them on a regular basis. And, if there is any emergency, I will be in need of proper treatment and it will be better if I go to the same hospital. But the senior officers are not considering my request. I will be promoted as Dy.SP very shortly and I came to know that I will be posted to Vijayapura,” the inspector lamented.
He was, however, not willing to comment anything on the minister’s role behind his transfer nor the alleged attempts he made to suspend him for trying to initiate action against the minister’s son.
