From abstract to real... all on show at the Jenney's Residency

Paintings by students of Lalit Kalakshetra Ravirak College of Fine Arts on display till June 16

Coimbatore: From abstract to surreal and downright realistic street scene- paintings spanning varied genres by students of students of Lalit Kalakshetra Ravirak College of Fine Arts are on display at the Jenney's Residency. Nine painters Subha Ragini, Sindhumathi, Mathurabaashini K.K. Snehal Jain, Pavithra K, G. Srikanth, G.S. Krishnamurthy, Sureshkumar and Vigneshraj have brought 40 paintings to Jenney's Residency.

The show is on till June 16. The cost of paintings at the exhibition cum sale ranges from Rs10, 000 to Rs 20, 000. Subha Ragini's paintings delve into the world of dreams and fantasy. She uses the kitchen equipment like wooden sticks to depict the cliché of the society. The paintings of K.K. Mathurabaashini explores the complex time cycle set for humans, with a call for breaking free from the shackles of time.

There is an abstract portrayal of a faceless women to ram home the concept of liberated women. "Women can be free like stars and canshine without any fear."Snehal Jain has four paintings with colourful flowers. The soft petals of colourful roses, fresh green leaves, the tranquil is an attempt to make one just feel happy and beautiful.Artist Pavithra K has eight paintings with three dimensional illusory effect to capture different shades of humans emotions and thoughts.

A musical theme on canvas with bright and soft colourful peacocks dancing in joy are the paintings of G. Srikanth. Artist G. S. Krishnamurthy has used bright colours like orange, yellow and blue which shows the healing rays of sun and also the life-consuming fire.
