Telangana has rights over Krishna water: KCR

Foundation stone laid for Dindi project
Hyderabad: Asserting that Telangana had every right to use Krishna waters available in its territory in any manner it wished, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Friday that there was no need for the AP government to make it an issue. While laying the foundation stone for the Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme (Nakkalagandi) at Sivanna Gudem in Nalgonda district on Friday evening, the CM said that the Telangana government would utilise every drop of Krishna waters it was entitled to and would not rest till all the projects were completed to achieve Bangaru Telangana.
The Dindi Scheme is being taken up at a cost of Rs 6,190 crore to supply water to over 3 lakh acre in Devarakonda and Munugode Assembly seats of Nalgonda district.
The CM said that government would provide jobs to one eligible member of the families that would be ousted under the new project and assured construction of double bedroom houses for them at alternative sites.
He also announced that the government would not acquire lands for the project and instead it would buy lands from farmers.
Continuing his tirade against AP irrigation minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, Mr Rao said it was not proper on the part of AP to raise objections for projects as these had been planned by erstwhile CMs of united AP. The CM had to cut short his speech at the Sivanna Gudem site due to heavy rain. Terming the rains as a “good omen” for TS, the CM said that even the rain God was showering his blessings on the occasion.
