Telangana Eamcet counselling from July 6
Hyderabad: The TS government on Friday accepted the proposal of the Hyderabad High Court to commence Eamcet counselling from July 6 for admissions to engineering courses and finish it by July 30. The classes will commence from August 1.
While dealing with a batch of petitions by private engineering colleges against the action of the JNTU, Hyderabad, Justice A. Ramalingeswara Rao proposed a schedule for counselling and the JNTU, the state government and managements of the engineering colleges agreed to it.
The college managements had challenged the communication issued by JNTU on June 9, notifying the deficiencies in the colleges and giving two days for rectification of the same.
The counsels for the colleges said that as per law, the colleges had the statutory right to make an appeal against the communication before the appellate authority. They urged the court to grant 30 days to make appeals and also to rectify the deficiencies.
The judge said that the SC had ordered that the counselling for engineering admissions should be finished by July 30 and classes should commence from August 1.
Making it clear that granting 30 days was not possible at this juncture, the judge proposed that the court would grant 10 days to colleges to appeal and another week to the appellate authority to dispose the appeals and then commence the counselling.
