Students go to Madras High Court on medical counselling
Chennai: As many as 62 students, who have cleared Plus Two recently and eagerly awaiting to get seats in MBBS / BDS courses, have approached the Madras high court to direct the authorities to confine counseling for these courses to those persons who have passed Plus two in the academic year 2014-15.
Justice M Sathyanarayanan before whom the petitions from Minor Kabhilan and 61 others came up for hearing on Friday said, “The consideration of students, who had undergone Plus-Two in the last academic year or earlier year is subject to the result of the petition. List the matter on July 8”.
Originally, Kabhilan filed a petition even before the plus two results were announced. Subsequently 61 students have filed petitions to implead themselves in the case. The 62 students, who cleared plus-two recently and are awaiting MBBS/BDS counselling said in their petition before the high court that the board examination conducted this year was tough.
They added that the evaluation was much more stringent than in the previous years. The marks obtained by the candidates were far too low, as compared to the previous years. For instance, the number of students who secured centum in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the previous years was much higher. If the candidates of 2014 and the preceding years were allowed to compete with the students of 2015, it would only result in injustice.
