Son hangs after dad’s chiding
An 18-year-old boy hanged himself after his father chided him for having scored poor marks
Coimbatore: An 18-year-old boy from Selvapuram hanged himself after his father chided him for having scored poor marks in class-ten public examination.
Police said N. Adityaram, a resident of Savithri Nagar in Selvapuram was interested in joining a polytechnic college, but his father enrolled him in a private school for plus-one. “As the boy scored poor marks in the class-ten examinations, his father Nagaraj, a goldsmith, couldn’t admit him in a polytechnic college and also found it hard to get admission in a reputed school,” police said.
On Friday morning, his father had scolded Adityaram for scoring poor marks. A depressed Adityaram went into the bedroom and committed suicide by hanging. His family members, who did not anticipate that the boy would take such an extreme step, broke open the door of the bedroom after he did not respond to repeated knocks. They found him hanging from the ceiling of the room.
On receiving information, the Selvapuram police came to the spot and sent the body of the boy for a post mortem at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). The Selvapuram police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
