The works began with a pooja at the Khairatabad temple.
“This year we have decided to the keep the height of the idol at 59 feet, one feet less than that of last year. In 2014 the committee celebrated its 60th anniversary and so the height was 60 feet. Ganesh Chaturthi falls on September 17 and immersion is on 27. When asked about immersion at Hussainsagar Mr Raj Kumar added, “So far there is no change in plans. Since decades Hussainsagar has been the place. We have not received any information from the corporation or government on shifting the immersion site.”
The TS government had earlier announced that the pond in Indira Park will be made the Ganesh immersion point. However, there is no development on that so far.
