Jayalalithaa opens hospital buildings worth Rs 80 crore

Tamil Nadu CM orders health department to provide necessary facilities to govt hospitals

Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa inaugurated medical equipment and facilities at government hospitals and public health centres in various parts of the state through video conferencing from the state secretariat Friday.

Ms Jayalalithaa launched the MRI scan equipment at Ooty, installed at a cost of Rs 5 crore. She also opened hospital buildings constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 80.92 crore and flagged off 25 ambulances.The Chief Minister has ordered health department officials to provide all necessary facilities to government hospitals in the hill areas as those available in hospitals in the urban areas.

She also inaugurated CT scan machine at Coonoor, Kothagiri and Gudalur government hospitals. The 108 ambulance service has been expanded significantly in the last four years from 406 in 2011 to 751 at present, says a press release.
