Andhra Pradesh cops shut down case against Peethala Sujatha quickly
Police booked a petty case under CrPC at Veeravasaram police station
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh police quickly closed a case against minister for mines Peethala Sujatha after Rs 10 lakh in cash was found at her residence. The director-general of police J.V. Ramudu said, “The case against the minister P. Sujatha has been closed as the cash was found to be genuine. The allegations that the cash was a bribe for a teacher’s post were found to be false. Local police will be filing a final report in the court informing the same.”
An unclaimed bag containing Rs 10 lakh and a photocopy of a hall ticket of a DSC aspirant was found at her ancestral residence at Veeravasaram in West Godavari on June 2. Police found Ms Adhala Vishnuvathi, a retired warden of a welfare hostel from Jinnuru village in West Godavari and took Rs 10 lakh loan from banks and went to the house of the minister with a photocopy of her daughter Srilakshmi’s hall ticket.
The minister’s housekeeper Subba Rao noticed the bag in the visitors’ room and alerted the local police who seized the bag and produced it before the magistrate. Police booked a petty case under CrPC at Veeravasaram police station. Ms Vishnuvathi in her statement to the police said that she had forgotten the bag in a hurry.
