Will jacarandas bloom on Bengaluru's Cubbon Road again?
Bengaluru: By June 30, Bengaluru's cental business district will finally see a long held dream come true - the opening of Cubbon Road all the way to Minsk Square. Once Namma Metro work is complete, the stretch between BRV Junction and BSNL Building will be opened for vehicular traffic.
Traffic diversions due to Namma Metro work and the ongoing TenderSure project had led to huge traffic jams on M.G. Road and the roads that lead into the main artery.
M.A. Saleem, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) said that reopening of Cubbon Road, which has been closed since March 2011 is expected to take the pressure off M.G. Road. "Once the road is reopened, the vehicles coming from the eastern side of Bengaluru and going towards the North and Central parts need not even enter M.G. Road," he said.
Over the next two months, two more stretches , the Metro construction in front of Vidhana Soudha and Gopal Gowda Circle will be over by July. Now all they need to do is replant the Jacaranda tree at Minsk and we might have our old Bengaluru back!
