Show Kannada films, CM Siddaramaiah tells multiplexes

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah instructed information minister R.Roshan Baig to draw up a policy on screening Kannada movies in multiplexes and price the tickets at an affordable level.

He took the decision after chairing a meeting with owners of multiplexes, representatives of Kannada film industry and officials of the information department here on Thursday. He also asked Mr. Roshan Baig to convene meeting of owners of multiplexes and representatives of Kannada film industry in order to resolve the crisis plaguing the industry.

He advised the owners of multiplexes to protect the interests of Kannada movies and Kannadigas as none outside the state was interested in Kannada movies outside the state.

At the meeting, representatives of the Kannada film industry placed three demands before the government: screen Kannada movies in multiplexes at prime time, screen these movies at inexpensive rate, and not to change these movies at short intervals.
