Pune Metro to have both underground, elevated corridors: Chief Minister
Pune: The proposed project for the Pune Metro will be a "mixed one" with both underground and elevated corridors, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said.
Putting to rest the debate in the light of calls by some city NGOs for exclusively underground corridors for the Metro, Fadnavis said a rigid stand was not advisable as the project should be "feasible and economically sustainable".
"The Metro will have mixed underground and elevated corridors and the Centre's nod is expected soon for it," he said at a function organised by the association of Marathi builders and developers here last night.
As per the recommendations of the project report prepared for Pune Metro by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, the city should have the first phase corridor (Swargate to Nigdi) underground on the route going through congested areas while the second (Vanaz to Ramwadi) could be an elevated one.
