CIAL officials meet as flights diverted after Karipur unrest
Kochi: Higher-ups of the Cochin international airport, on Thursday, convened a meeting of officials of the various agencies operating at the airport, in view of incidents like the one at Karipur international airport on Wednesday night.
The meeting chaired by airport director A.C.K Nair was attended by officials of CISF and customs, among others. The officials assured their co-operation for the smooth functioning of all departments of the airport.
Recently there were reports that the CISF and customs officials at Cochin airport had fallen out with each other, which was promptly denied by the customs commissioner K.N. Raghavan.
Four flights, including three Air India Express flights from Sharjah, Dammam and Baharain, were diverted to CIAL from Kozhikode after Wednesday night’s incident. The passengers were transported to Kozhikode by road.
Passengers from Dammam staged a protest inside the aircraft for being forced to wait inside the plane for nearly three hours.
