Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given his consent for constitution of Cubbon Park Management Authority, a move which would help develop the vast verdant space into a tourist spot.
Mr Siddaramaiah has directed officials of horticulture and tourism departments to submit a detail proposal on constitution of such an authority within a week. The authority would be headed by horticulture minister Shamanur Shivashankarappa, Mr Siddaramaiah told the media after chairing a meeting of officers of horticulture and tourism departments here on Thursday.
Interestingly, the government has decided to allow private entities and corporate houses to take part in the upkeep of the park as well as join the authority as members. No new constructions would be allowed nor would the authority be allowed to make changes to existing structures, he said at the meeting adding that the new body would be allowed to improve facilities at Bal Bhavan, the aquarium and other attractions inside the park.
Horticulture minister Mr Shamanur Shivashankarappa and infrastructure minister, R. Roshan Baig attended.
