Guntur: Revenue wing is on target
Guntur: The boom in land prices owing to construction of the new capital in the district helped the registration department achieve its target very fast. In the last two months, the registration department achieved about 75 per cent of its target set for the current financial year which is about 9 per cent more when compared with that during the corresponding period last year.
Guntur district registrar K. Srinivasa Rao said they are hopeful of completing the target in a few days, in the wake of the capital boom. The Mangalagiri sub-registrar office, in the capital region, exceeded the revenue target by 23 per cent which is much more than that achieved for the corresponding period last year. The revenue collection at the Mangalagiri office stands at Rs 11.33 crore.
Apart from Mangalagiri in the capital region, Tadikonda achieved 80 per cent of its target but Pedakakani registered only 37 per cent of the target. A target of Rs 372 crore was fixed for the financial year for the Guntur registrar office of which Rs 40 crore has been achieved so far, Mr. Srinivasa Rao informed.
Amaravati sub-registrar Sk. Bajid informed the last two months witnessed good income but after the farmers submitting their land to the government under the land pooling scheme, the income has slowed down. The fringe areas of the capital region which fall under the Guntur registrar office, including Nallapadu, Koritepadu, Guntur, Prattipadu and Chebrolu also achieved more than 60 per cent of their target.
K. Srinivasa Rao, owner of a real estate company based in Guntur, said many people were showing interest in buying lands on the fringe areas of the capital region as many farmers had submitted their land under LPS in seed capital area.
