It seems that director Puri Jagannath might not direct Chiranjeevi’s 150th film after all.
According to industry rumours, Chiranjeevi is apparently not very confident about Puri’s skills and he has been telling close associates that the director might not be able to handle the landmark film.
Adding fuel to the fire, director V.V. Vinayak met Chiranjeevi on Thursday and the meeting has strengthened claims suggesting Vinayak might takeover the film completely from Puri.
Also, Chiranjeevi is unhappy with the way the director has been announcing films one after the other and feels Puri might not be able to concentrate on a film that’s all-important for the veteran star.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, both Puri Jagannath and Nithiin tweeted that their project had been cancelled. And sources say that the real reason behind this is that the director wanted actress Charmme to handle the production of Nithiin’s film.
“The film was supposed to be launched on Friday. Discussions had been going on for the past few days and producer Sudhakar Reddy — Nithiin’s father — had even given an advance to Puri. Amidst these discussion, Charmme entered the scene with a wish to handle the film’s production. Director Puri too supported her, insisting Charmme be made a part of the project. But Sudhakar Reddy objected to her interference in the film, and he decided to back out from the project,” a source reveals.
Everything was confirmed about the project and Puri had even called actress Regina Cassandra’s PR for her dates as the female lead. “But once Charmme entered the scene, everything changed. She wanted Disha Patani instead of Regina. In fact, the producer agreed to give some share to Puri and requested him not to keep Charmme in production, but the director refused to eject the actress, so the project stands shelved,” adds the source.
However, the major talking point in the industry is how Charmme is handling Puri’s financial dealings. This might also be a reason why Puri stands to lose the Chiru project....
