VS Achuthanandan alleges graft in Vizhinjam deal

This is just less than one third of the project cost
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan on Wednesday alleged corruption worth crores of rupees in the handing over of the Vizhinjam project to Adani group.
In a statement, the veteran leader alleged that the government had dumped the proposal for landlord model and also the opposition’s other suggestions. He said for a project worth Rs 7,525 crore, Adani group would be spending Rs 4,089 crore. Of this, Rs 1,635 crore has to be given by the state as a viability fund which means the group will be spending only Rs 2,454 crore.
This is just less than one third of the project cost. Moreover, the amount is less than the Rs 2,500 crore planned to be raised through a consortium of banks. He said people would see through the state governments’ devious plans.
