Telugu Desam leaders meet on MLC candidates

The suspense continued on the second candidate to contest from the TD

Visakhapatnam: As the suspense continued on the second candidate to contest from the TD in the local bodies constituencies MLC elections, HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivas Rao, along with the MLAs of the ruling party in the district, on Wednesday met and discussed about probable candidates.
While the BJP MLA from Vizag North constituency too participated in the meeting, Vizag east MLA V.R.K. Babu and another minister from the district Ch. Ayyanapatrudu, skipped the meeting.
Notably, former Madugula MLA G. Ramunaidu, who belongs to Ayyana camp, is also said to be in the race for the party ticket. Mr Srinivas Rao’s camp is said to be opposing Ramu-naidu’s candidature and said to have suggested a few other names.
However, those who met on Wednesday morning had decided to leave the decision of picking the second candidate to the party supremo and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
It may be worth mentioning here that for the two MLC vacancies, TD central leadership had already decided to field former MP Pappala Chalapathi Rao from one seat. Many TD leaders are in the race for the second seat since the party has bright chances to win both the vacant seats in Vizag district.
