Spiritual leader Sadguru Sivananda Murthy dead
He was 87 and had been unwell for some time
WARANGAL: Noted spiritual guru Sadguru Kandukuru Sivananda Murthy passed away early on Wednesday morning. He was 87 and had been unwell for some time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called the Sadguru a fortnight ago to enquire about his health and had offered him the best of medical treatment.
According to family members, the Sadguru breathed his last at 1.55 am on Wednesday at the Gurudham in Mulugu Road. Grief stricken followers, including those from abroad, turned up in large numbers to have one last glimpse of the spiritual guru.
Sivananda Murthy was born on December 21, 1928, in Rajahmundry. He had authored many books like Hindu Vivaha Charitra, Gautama Buddha, Maharshula Charitra among others. In 1995, he had set up the Sivananda Trust and the Andhra Music Academy. In recognition of his services, he was accorded a Doctorate in 2005 by the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University along with the titles Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Petham Mahopadyaya and Deshikottama.
