Working with a naai was easier than with a paei: Sibiraj
Sibiraj is a content man after his successful comeback in Naaigal Jaakiradhai. “The film went down well with family audiences, especially children. From now on, I want to be cautious about selecting scripts. I watched Dharanidharan’s Burma and was fascinated by it, so when he came up with the idea of a horror-comedy, I gave my nod.”
Titled Jackson Durai, the movie is set in 1947. Bindu Madhavi has been paired with Sibi. Talking about Bindu, Sibi says, “She is the best co-star I have ever had.” He adds with a smile, “Oh, don’t read between the lines. For the first time, I am working with a tall heroine. That’s all.”
While Sibi plays a police officer visiting a village to investigate a haunting, Sathyaraj will play the ghost. Although Sibi was unwilling to discuss it, the director revealed that that the senior actor will appear in the two-dimensional role of a ghost as well as human being. “I had Sathyaraj sir in mind while writing that particular character. Being an atheist who doesn’t believe in superstitions and ghosts, he initially said ‘no’. But I persuaded him explaining the importance of the character, and he agreed,” says Dharanidharan.
When asked about working with a naai (dog) or paei (ghost), Sibi said, “Working with a dog is relatively easy. It is easier to react when you shoot with a dog whereas in the case of a ghost, you have to imagine someone there which is quite tough.”
