Singer Mika was on Thursday arrested by Delhi police for slapping a doctor during a live concert in April. The singer had slapped the doctor at the Delhi Ophthalmological Society’s three-day conference where he was performing. The opthalmologist Shrikant, reportedly suffered an internal ear injury.
The doctors’ community is making sure that Dr. Shrikant gets justice — a far cry from how the world reacted when an unwelcome Mika had kissed a shocked Rakhi Sawant in 2006. Despite Sawant’s disgust and shock, there was no police complaint, no follow up and no ‘backers’ pursuing legal action. Instead, everyone pretty much agreed it was all a publicity stunt.
The 2006 incident has even become fodder for humour. When Rakhi and Mika bumped into each other inside a plane last year they clicked a selfie together. “Guess who caught me whilst I was trying to run at the airport.. My old friend enemy Rakhi Sawant :) bachaooooooo (sic),”, Mika tweeted in jest.
And Rakhi too has moved on, even supporting Mika in the latest case. “I have had a panga with Mika earlier, but I have forgotten about the incident. We are artistes and we have not come here to fight or take revenge. I even spoke to him recently and from what he said, I completely agree the doctor was out of line,” she said.
And oh, Mika was given bail shortly after his arrest.
