CBFC clears Hamari Adhuri Kahaani without any cuts

Interestingly Hamari Adhuri Kahani missed three dates of submission

Mahesh Bhatt’s latest offering Hamari Adhuri Kahaani, that deals with the issue of domestic violence and oppressive marriages, has been cleared by the Censor Board well ahead of its release dates with a ‘U’ certificate (can be viewed by people of all ages) and without any cuts.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has very clear guidelines which state that violence against women would not be allowed — not even a slap.

Explaining why HAK is an exception, CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihlani said, “We’ve repeatedly stressed that every film would be evaluated and certified individually and according to individual content. Agreed that violence against women is not allowed, but if the theme is dealt with sensitively, we are not rigidly opposed to (showing) any mirror-image of a social reality.”

Interestingly Hamari Adhuri Kahani missed three dates of submission with the Censor Board before finally submitting the film.
