Uncertain situation prevails in Telugu Desam, YSR Congress

The TD had absolute majority of votes in Anantapur district while situation is different in Kurnool
Anantapur: Uncertain situation prevailed for both Telugu Desam and YSRC parties following huge difference of votes for MLC elections in the region. The TD had absolute majority of votes in Anantapur district while situation is different in Kurnool district as opposition YSRC had majority of voters from local bodies.
TD had brushed off all municipalities along with 49 MPPs and equal number of Zilla parishad territory constituencies (ZPTCs) in local bodies in Anantapur district.
Congress had not even proved existence in APCC chief N. Raghuveera Reddy’s home town Madakasira in Anantapur district where the TD swept all ZPTCs and MPP seats along with municipality.
The TD has been planning to field senior leader Payyavula Kesav as candidate from Anantapur district. Though, Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna had reportedly extended support to former MLA Abdul Ghani’s candidature, the high command was fielding another minority leader Sharif, sources said.
Line was cleared for Mr Kesav, who actually tasted defeat in general elections from Uravakonda Assembly constituency. A senior leader in the party made it clear that Mr Kesav candidature was just a formal. However, the YSRC was not clear on fielding candidate from Anantapur and waiting for decision from high command because party had not even in a position to lure majority voters from ruling party.
A senior leader from YSRC observed the there are possibilities of mutual understanding between both parties. “But we are prepared to field party candidate if there would be no mutual consent with TD”.
Because, YSRC had majority number of voters in Kurnool district than the TD and even if the TD to field a candidate it needs to attract voters from other parties mostly YSRC. The election authorities were making necessary arrangements for the elections.
