No monsoon till June 12 in Andhra Pradesh

Thundershowers would continue at isolated places in AP and TS in next few days

Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon’s arrival in Andhra Pradesh, which was predicted by the IMD to be “in the next two days” last week, has now been revised. As per the new prediction, the monsoon will reach AP in another “two to three days”. It has been four days since the monsoon reached Kerala, and it has already covered many parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, parts of Maharashtra and all of Goa. However, though the IMD has said that the conditions are favourable, the monsoon’s progress has been very slow.

It was earlier predicted by meteorologists that the Southwest Monsoon would reach Telangana by June 10-12. However, its arrival in AP now is expected to be by June 12. This means that it will reach Telangana even later. Pre-monsoon showers continued in most parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana helping keep the temperatures under control. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature recorded in Hyderabad stood at 36.5ºC.

The maximum temperature recorded on Tuesday in Telangana stood at 40ºC in Ramagundam and it was 39ºC at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. Thundershowers would continue at isolated places in AP and TS in the next few days.
