Karnataka GP poll burst Modi bubble: Ramalinga Reddy
BENGALURU: Claiming that the ruling Congress had won around 1241 of the total 2304 wards in Bengaluru (urban) district in the recent polls to Gram Panchayats, transport and district in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy said on Tuesday that the results indicated a burst of the “Modi bubble.”
He told the media here that results of Gram Panchayat elections had proved that people were disillusioned with the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “What has he done during the last one year? All the time, he is on foreign tour. People, for various reasons, voted for Mr Modi though he had never done anything for Gujarat either. Now, they have realised that Mr Modi will do nothing. All he does is wear expensive suits and boots,” he added.
At the same time, Mr Reddy blamed coalition partners in UPA-2 for spoiling the image of the government and subsequent defeat in Lok Sabha polls last year. “The UPA government had introduced so many reforms in the country. But since the Congress did not have majority, we had to depend on coalition partners who brought a bad name to the government,” he added.
Initially Mr Reddy was not willing to name any particular party which sullied the image of UPA-2 government. “I know and you (the media) also know. The media has reported about so many things,” he added but when correspondents persisted, Mr Reddy said: “Mr A Raja and Mr Kalmadi brought a bad name.” He charged that Mr Modi was a master marketing manager who marketed himself over these issues.
