IAS officer DK Ravi case: CBI questions Kolar DC office staff
BENGALURU: The CBI officials, who are probing the mysterious death of IAS officer D K Ravi, have questioned the staff of the Kolar Deputy Commissioner’s office, as he was the DC in Kolar earlier.
Sources said that the CBI had issued notice to some of the staff of the DC’s office on last Wednesday through fax. “Notice was issued to appear before the investigating authority in the CBI Bengaluru office on Saturday and Monday. Some of them were questioned on Saturday while the others appeared on Monday,” a source said.
It is learnt that seven people were issued notices. Venkanna and Dharmendra Prasad, who were personal assistants to Ravi, car drivers Gurappa and Maruti, gunman Santosh, computer operator Khaleel, and office clerk Rafiq were given the notice to appear before the CBI officials. They had appeared on last Saturday and Monday.
A team of CBI officials, on June 1, had met Kolar DC, Dr. K V Trilok Chandra, Additional DC R S Peddappaiah and other officials. The team had also examined the attendance and other documents, related to the period when Mr. Ravi was the Kolar DC.
The CBI, which has reportedly come to a conclusion that Ravi had committed suicide, is now examining the reason for the extreme step. It is investigating whether an alleged failed love affair with a batch-mate IAS officer or a botched attempt at land dealing led to his extreme step. Now, the CBI officials are also probing whether pressure from land mafia or sand mafia, against which Ravi had acted tough when he was Kolar DC, pushed him to take the hasty step.
