Father can’t reverse or nullify adoption, says M.A.M.R Muthiah
Chennai: Responding to his father’s formal announcement of disowning him as son, Mr M.A.M.R. Muthiah, managing director of the Rs 4,000 crore Chettinad Group, said Mr M.A.M. Ramaswamy was saying all these for so long, but legally he cannot reverse or nullify the adoption. ”I am okaywith these statements. He has great anger towards me for unknown reasons,” he said. While addressing media last week, Mr Muthiah, said he is looking for an amicable solution and is ready to surrender if the solution is constructive for the business. “But if they are destructive, you cannot obey them,” he added. He claimed his father was not in a mood to listen.
“My father is in wheelchair and is too old to manage a company. Considering his age, he should generously give way to the younger generation. He cannot have those people behind him managing it and that will not work for company’s good,” Muthiah, told reporters adding there are around 5-7 people, both relatives and others, around his father who had vested interests and were trying to take control of the group. “ I am the only force standing in defense. They have poisoned my father with wrong advise” he alleged.
Muthiah, said his firm stand is due to the responsibility he felt towards the organisation and in the interest of thousands of families whose livelihood is depended on the group. “I built the organisation from Rs60 crore market capital to Rs 4,000 crore market capital in 15 years. I have put my blood and soul to build this company. It has to be the company first, family second and individual third,” he said. “The growth of the company has stopped for the past two years. However, it has not declined. This year we will be showing a better growth,” Muthiah, said.
