Cops stop ‘clash’ of slippers between women workers of TRS and TD

Members from both groups removed their chappals and threatened each other

Hyderabad: If not for the timely intervention by the cops, it would have been a battle of slippers between enraged women workers of TRS and TD in front of the NTR Bhavan at Banjara Hills on Tuesday afternoon. Women TRS workers, agitating against AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in front of the TD office, were confronted by women TD workers.

Members from both groups removed their chappals and threatened each other. Thankfully, before things could turn ugly, the police intervened and arrested them all.

It started when a group of women TRS activists arrived at the NTR Bhavan led by Ms P. Vijaya Reddy. They stood before the office and started shouting slogans against Mr Naidu and others and also burnt effigies of TD leaders. Meanwhile, a group of women came out of the office and started shouting at the TRS workers. A mild scuffle took place and the slipper wielding women were about to attack each other when the cops intervened.

Later, a group of TD workers led by Ms Banda Shobha Rani arrived at the spot and started shouting slogans against Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the TRS.

Seventeen TRS women workers and 27 TD workers were taken to the police station and later released.
