I wanted scenes with Simran: Manisha Yadav
Manisha Yadav, who rose to stardom with films like Vazhakku Enn 18/9 and Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer, is excited about her role in Trisha Illana Nayanthara. In the film, she plays one of the leads — Aditi, a half Gujarati, half Anglo Indian girl. She’s all praise for GV Prakash. “It was fun working with him as he is a thorough professional. I am an average singer, so have wondered if he would ask me to sing. But I didn’t have guts to walk up to him and say that I sing,” laughs Manisha.
When asked if she was excited to meet Simran and share the screen with her, she says that unfortunately, she couldn’t. “Simran ma’am is a part of the film. I am a great fan of her work and I look up to her in many ways. Initially, I felt happy that I would get to act in scenes together with her. But it didn’t happen,” she says. This Bengaluru-based model-turned-actress says she accepts films not only because of the role on offer, but also for something new, for the film’s plot.
“I am determined to do content-driven roles in Tamil. I waited for three years for the movie’s release and have finally got my due. Now people have realised that I have potential. I am still keen to be part of Kannada films as well,” she says.
The actress is also busy shooting Oru Kuppai Kathai in which choreographer Dinesh plays the hero. Manisha says she’s proud that she completed her emotional scenes with only a few takes. “The whole credit goes to my team, that made me feel like home. It’s a beautiful love story that has an interesting twist after the interval. I am 100 per cent sure that the audience will love it.” Manisha says she owes a lot to director Balaji Sakthivel and Lingusamy, who gave her this break. “I have good offers coming my way. I will make sure that I will not get typecast, doing similar films again.” Asked what was next in her life, “I would love to work with Ajith sir and Dhanush,” she signs off.
