Women held in Tiruchy for burning ‘Maggi’ packets
A permanent ban by the central and state governments
Tiruchy: A group of women activists, some of them with children on hand, were taken into custody by the police here on Monday when they protested by burning few packets of ‘Maggi’ noodles near the central storage point of an MNC supermarket at suburban Ariyamangalam.
The protestors under the aegis of ‘Pengal Viduthalai Munnani’, and led by their district president Ms Nirmala, demanded among other things, a permanent ban by the central and state governments on production and sales of harmful fast foods like noodles. The protestors were later released in the evening, police said.
