Southwest monsoon yet to reach Andhra Pradesh

The highest maximum temperature of 42ºC was recorded at Adilabad

Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon continues to stay put and has not moved into AP yet. The prediction of the Southwest Monsoon reaching Rayalaseema and coastal AP in the next 48 hours was first issued on Friday, but it was later revised. However, the good news is that the conditions continue to be favourable for the advancement of the monsoon into AP, after which it will reach Telangana.

On Monday, thundershowers continued at many places in AP and Telangana. North-coastal AP witnessed heavy rainfall at many places including Pusapatirega in Vizianagaram (11cm), Ranasthalam in Srikakulam (9cm) and Visakhapatnam (9cm). Other districts that witnessed rainfall include Prakasam, Guntur, Kurnool, Chittoor and Kadapa. In Telangana, rains lashed places in Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Adilabad, Khammam and Ranga Reddy. However, the rainfall was less than 3cm in most of the places.

Meanwhile, the temperatures continue to be on the lower side in most places. In fact, they were lower by 6ºC to 8ºC in coastal AP. The highest maximum temperature of 42ºC was recorded at Adilabad in Telangana and lowest was at 32ºC in Hakimpet.
