SIT probe satisfies Hyderabad High Court

Investigation into death in Army area

Hyderabad: A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday expressed satisfaction on the SIT probe into the killing of 11-year-old Shaik Mustafauddin on the Army Garrison campus at Mehdipatnam and disposed a PIL seeking a CBI probe into the incident.

The bench was dealing with a PIL by Gulam Rabbani, an advocate in the city. On October 8, 2014, the boy, in his dying declaration, stated that two Army personnel were directly involved.

While disposing the case, the bench suggested the petitioner and family members of the deceased to share information with SIT officers probing the case.

PIL against Narayana out

A PIL moved before the Hyderabad HC against Dr P. Narayana, AP minister and founder of Narayana group of educational institutions, was withdrawn on Monday. A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt found fault with petitioner Gareeb Guide, a voluntary organisation.

The petitioner sought a CBI probe into the minister’s alleged disproportionate assets and complained that the ACB did not register a case on a complaint against the minister. The bench warned of dismissing the PIL with costs. Counsel for the petitioner requested permission to withdraw the PIL and file a fresh petition.

TS told to file plea on stadium

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt of the Hyderabad HC on Monday directed the TS government to file a counter affidavit in a PIL challenging the government order directing the GHMC to hand over NTR stadium to the culture department to construct the Telangana Kala Bharathi. The bench was dealing with a PIL filed by Indira Park Walkers Association seeking to set aside the GO for allotting land to Kala Bharathi. Counsel for the petitioner argued that in the absence of a standing committee or elected body, the GHMC special officer took the decision to hand over the stadium, which is illegal. TS advocate-general K. Ramakrishna Reddy said the government proposed to build Kala Bharathi for various cultural activities. The bench posted the matter for hearing to June 22.

Court to hear encounter case

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday declared that it will hear cases pertaining to the Seshachalam encounter in which 20 alleged red sanders were killed on April 7, in Chittoor, after completion of 60 days, which it had granted to complete the investigation.
The bench posted the case to June 29.

YSRC moves HC against EC

The YSR Congress on Monday moved the Hyderabad HC challenging the decision of the Election Commission of India to conduct separate elections to the posts of members of the AP Legislative Council to fill two vacancies from the Krishna and Vishakapatnam local authorities’ constituencies. The party, represented by Challa Madhusudhan Reddy, contended that the decision of the EC was illegal and violative of fundamental rights.
