RUSA fund to help develop Mahatma Gandhi University

The University may get the fund by the end of June

KOTTAYAM: According to the Rashtirya Uchchasthar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) project, the funds to be allotted by the Human Resources Development ministry to the MG University, will help put in place its comprehensive development activities.

The University had submitted a host of proposals to the tune of Rs 20 crore to the Human Resources Ministry. According to sources, the University may get the fund by the end of June.

“The fund will help a development surge in the University including construction of smart classrooms, new building among other developmental activities”, said sources from the University.

The RUSA fund will also help strengthen the academic activities of the University, develop infrastructural facilities such as student amenity centres, construction of new buildings, expansion of the libraries, purchase of new journals and will also include harvesting of non-conventional energy resources, and for the establishment of e-governance.

The MG University is also getting central funds from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR), Department of Science and Technology, Defence Research and Development Organization(DRDO), Nano Mission, Bio-technology Mission and other departments.
