Return all 4 banned noodle brands: Collector

All available stocks should be returned to the respective manufacturers

Tiruchy: The Tiruchy district administration has directed all traders to return stocks of all the four brands of noodles including Maggi, banned by the Tamil Nadu government, to the respective manufacturers immediately.

In a release here, the Tiruchy collector K.S. Palanisamy said the state government has banned manufacture, stocking and sale of Maggi and three other noodle brands — Wai Wai Xpress noodles, Reliance Select instant noodles and Smith and Jones Chicken masala noodles — for three months. All available stocks should be returned to the respective manufacturers through the distributors concerned, he said.

If any shop was found selling the banned noodle brands, the collector warned that action would be initiated against them under the ‘Food Safety and Standards Act’. Complaints, if any regarding the sale of the banned noodles, can be lodged with the ‘Designated Food safety officer’ either in person or over the telephone by dialing 2333330. Besides, hotels, eateries, marriage halls and hostels should not use the banned products, he added.
