NDA govt a 'cobra snake' disrupting country's communal harmony: Lalu Prasad Yadav

The RJD chief attacked the government for running a one man show

New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Tuesday said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government is a 'cobra snake' which is poisoning the nation by disrupting communal harmony.

"The people of Bihar have waited for long for this merger. We had realised that we were falling short of time. I had already made my stand clear. I have spoken to Nitish a couple of times. The BJP is a'cobra' snake which is poisoning the country which is disturbing the communal balance and we will sacrifice anything to stop this. That is why we will support Nitish to stop the BJP," Yadav said in an exclusive interview with ANI.

"Nitish had lost his path before but now he is back. Such issues happen between brothers. The country is watching that Lalu and Nitish is going to fight together in the Bihar polls which will, result in their Ghar Wapasi. We will defeat the BJP in Bihar. If the BJP has courage i ask them to announce their chief ministerial candidate for Bihar elections. If you think you will get the majority. I would like to challenge them through ANI," he said.

The RJD chief further attacked the government for running a one man show.

"The price of everything is sky high. How are the people going to survive? By looking at Narendra Modi's photograph? Congress or the BJP, none of them will be able to get a majority alone," he added.

On Monday, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav confirmed that Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar would be the Janata Parivar's chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.

Talking about seat-sharing for the Bihar polls, Kumar said that three members each from the RJD and JD (U) will meet on Wednesday and have a discussion on seat-distribution. The Bihar Chief Minister had on Monday met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi at the latter's residence in the national capital.

On April 15, six political parties-including the Janata Dal (United), Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Samajwadi Party-had announced a merger to revive the united Janata Party. Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was named the president of the merged entity.
