Depressed over her unhappy marital life

Chennai: A 32-year-old nurse injected herself with poison and died at her residence in suburban Kilkattalai on Sunday night. Police suspect her to be depressed over her unhappy marital life.
S.Pramila Devi worked as a nurse at a private hospital in Medavakkam, living with her husband Prince Charles at Eswaran Nagar in Kilkattalai. The couple married in February 2013 after years of courtship. Prince runs a fast food centre in Kilkattalai.
On Sunday at around 11 pm, Prince returned home after shutting his shop when he found his wife lying unconscious in the bedroom. There were syringes and bottles near her.
With the help of neighbours, he moved his wife to a private hospital nearby. Doctors at the hospital declared Pramila brought dead, following which Madipakkam police took over investigations. The body was moved to the Chromepet Government Hospital for post-mortem.
Police investigations revealed that the couple had no children and the woman was under a lot of pressure over this. However, it is not clear as to what forced her to take the drastic step. Meanwhile, Pramila’s father Sabarimuthu approached the cops with a complaint alleging suspicion in his daughter’s death. Madipakkam police have registered a case under section 174 CrPC (suspicious death). Meanwhile, an RDO inquiry has been ordered to probe the suicide of the nurse.
