Southwest Monsoon delayed in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon’s arrival in Andhra Pradesh has been delayed yet again by one more day. Since Friday, the Indian Meteorological Department reports have been saying that the monsoon would arrive in AP in 48 hours.
However, on Sunday, the IMD reported again that it would take two more days for the monsoon to reach Rayalaseema and coastal AP regions.
There has been no report as to when the monsoon showers can be expected in Telangana but local meteorologists predict that it would be only between June 10 and 12.
Upper air cyclonic circulation exists over AP along with convective clouds, indicating that the conditions continue to be favourable for advancement of monsoon in the state.
As on Sunday the southwest monsoon continued to pass through Mysuru and Mangaluru in Karnataka and Salem and Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu. The IMD reported that on Monday thunderstorms would occur parts of AP and Telangana. Pre-monsoon showers too did not make appreciable appearance in both states.
As on Sunday, seven districts of AP and two of Telangana experienced scanty and deficient rainfall was recorded in one district of AP and three in Telangana. However, thankfully for the people of the two states, the temperatures continued to be normal and below normal.
