Siddaramaiah on city tour for poll’s sake: HD Deve Gowda

According to him, Mr Siddaramaiah will be drubbed in the forthcoming BBMP polls

Bengaluru: Taking a dim view of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s city rounds, Janata Dal (S) supremo, H.D. Deve Gowda remarked that the former had commenced city rounds only after realising that elections to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP were round the corner. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a drinking water unit at Laggere in the city, Mr Gowda quipped that people in Bengaluru were not as gullible as the CM would like them to be. “They are aware of the reasons for Mr Siddaramaiah’s new found energy in touring the city as well as announcing projects worth several crores during every visit. Siddaramaiah thinks he can lure people to vote for his party by touring and announcing projects.

“This is not going to happen. Just few days ago, he desperately wanted the polls to be postponed and he even superseded BBMP to fulfil his desire but the Indian judicial system put an end to his whims,” he said.

According to him, Mr Siddaramaiah will be drubbed in the forthcoming BBMP polls. “He can be rest assured that he will have to cross over me to achieve his dream to win the polls. It is not going to happen as long as I am alive.

He claims the Congress party has won more seats in the just concluded gram panchayat polls. He must remember that I was also a Chief Minister and even Prime Minister, who knows very well how these figures are arrived at and how the victory numbers swell when a party is in power,” the former PM said.

He added that he will soon embark on city rounds to expose Mr Siddarmaiah and his city rounds. “Unlike the GP poll, BBMP will be fought on party symbols and the ruling party cannot afford to take opposition parties lightly,” he cautioned.
