Giraffe, chimpanzee wait for mates

Hyderabad: The lone giraffe and a single chimpanzee at the city zoo are waiting for mates, but there’s no top officials to decide on the matter. Money is not a problem, but it needs a permanent curator and director to complete the paperwork required to buy mates from abroad. For the male giraffe, officials are trying hard to find a mate that is under one year of age. Older giraffes grow over nine feet and cannot be easily transported by air and sea transport is risky as they can die of sea sickness. The chimpanzee will get a mate from one of the zoos in the country.
